My Favourite Five Christmas Cards of 2012

As I mentioned in a previous post Debby is again hosting her Favourite Five Christmas Cards.

I found this quite a hard choice this year as I loved making all my Christmas cards and didn’t find it the chore that I have sometimes found it in the past. So with a little help from hubby on narrowing it down to 5…ahem 6, here goes….

#1 – This was the first card I created as part of the Whimsy Stamps Digital Design Team. I love Kraft and the image is so cute and I was thrilled that it’s here on the Whimsy Stamps store page. Original post is here.

#2 - I have a few favourite Pink Gem Digis and Winter Chloe is one of them. I really enjoyed making this card because of the non-traditional colour scheme and it also has some of my favourite things, pearls, sparkle, ribbon and lace. Original post is here.

#3 – This was part of my winning entry for Papercraft Essentials ‘Papercrafter of the Year 2012’. It’s a 3D Christmas Tree Card, but does in fact fold completely flat for posting. If you have the magazine I’m on page 18 but I haven’t got round yet to posting the pictures on my bog.

#4 – This time it’s one of my favourite Digi Stamp Boutique images ‘Skating Hattie’. I was pleased with how I managed to use up some scraps of old card and shock horror use a glitter peel off! The original post can be found here.

#5 – Another Digi Stamp Boutique image from a fabulous A4 sheet of 6 designs together with sentiments. This sheet of images (with a little colouring) allowed me to churn out a lot of fast and simple, but at the same time individual cards. Original post is here and shows some more cards made with the other images.

#6 – And the sneaky extra one is a Digi Stamp by Chrissy Armstrong for Whimsy Stamps. I think I like this one because although I’m not a religious person it is such an adorable image and I have family members who I knew it would be perfect for. The original post can be found here.

Thanks for stopping by and taking a peak at my favourite Christmas cards of 2012 and before I go I would like to wish all my followers (old and new) a Merry and Prosperous 2013.

Hugs

Lisa

Some Quick Makes

Evening All. Hope everyone has been having a nice relaxing time. We have had a hectic few days so have had a nice lazy day, including a little stroll so Little One could try out his new scooter.

I do believe these are the last of the Christmas cards that I have to share. These were what I referred to as my quick makes and I created them using the fabulous Simply for Christmas A4 set from Digi Stamp Boutique. The best bit was having the sentiment right below the picture so I could die cut them in one go.

Here are the pictures (sorry quite a few)…

All the images were coloured with my ProMarkers and have been cut out and matted using various dies (including X-Cut, Nesties, Nellie Snellen, etc). The plain paper and cards was all from my stash and the patterned papers and card are from various different pads (including Forever Friends, Daisy and Dandelion, MME, First Edition Stocking Filler and Village Christmas, Pink Petticoat, etc). And lastly a little bling.

I would like to enter all the above cards into the following challenges:

Mo’s Elf

We’ve had family visiting today and it’s been pretty hectic, so just a quick post from me as it’s quite late. I really want to get the last of my Christmas Cards posted so that I can participate in Debby’s

Here are a couple of cards using Mo Manning’s Elf that are very similar (hence posting both together) but use slightly different die cuts…

The image has been coloured with my ProMarkers and I’ve used various Nesties and X-Cut Dies to mat the images. The plain card is from my stash and the patterned paper is from an old Forever Friends Christmas A4 Pad (I think but need to double check). The sentiment is from a HobbyArt clear stamp set and finally a few Rhinestones to finish.

Favourite Mo Manning Card

This is only the second image I have from Mo Manning's Digi Shop and the second card I have made using a Mo Manning image, but it’s my favourite. I  think I like it so much because I love the cute little Elf and I was also very pleased with how my Poinsettias turned out as I cut them using a CC Designs Phlox flower die.

The image has been coloured with ProMarkers. The patterned paper is from a Kaisercraft Magazine freebie. The sentiment and small snowflake stamp are from a HobbyArt clear stamp set and all other card/paper is from my stash/scrap pile. I’ve also used the CC Designs Phlox Flower Die, various Stickles glitter glue and some gold glitter Flowersoft.

Digi Stamp Boutique

I bought Skating Hattie last Christmas from Digi Stamp Boutique but is still one of my favourite images to colour. I have already shared one of this years Christmas cards made using her and here is another…

She has been coloured with my ProMarkers, the patterned paper is from an old DCWV Christmas Glitter Mat Stack, the plain card is from my stash, the dies are Nesties and Nellie Snellen and the sentiment and snowflake stamp are from a clear HobbyArt stamp set.

Papercrafter of the Year 2012

A bit of late post from me but while I sit here and wait for some painkillers to kick in (the sinus infection doesn’t want to go away as easily as I hoped) I thought I would share my good news…

I have had a hard job sitting on this little secret. I’ve known since the middle of November…..I have won this years Papercraft Essentials Papercrafter of the Year and I don’t think I’m quite over the shock yet! The magazine went on sale today and my ugly mug appears on page 18, it truly is an awful pic but hey what can I expect I was 7 months pregnant when the picture was taken.

I have received a fantastic amount of prizes from the sponsors (companies including Crafters Companion, Unity Stamp Company and Woodware). It’s all in my lounge at the moment as I can’t fit it in my Craft Room, so I have already shared some of the goodies with my Sister and Niece.

However, more exciting than the prize is the fact I’m now on the design team for the magazine….yipeeeee. I’m working on my first commission at the moment and I’m so excited but nervous too.

Right I think the painkillers are finally kicking in so I’m off to try and get some sleep. I will try and share the pictures of my creations with you over the next week or two.

Final Challenge of 2012 at PCJ

Morning All. Hope you are well, I’m still suffering with a sinus infection but I’m hoping it will be well and truly gone before Christmas Day.

Enough waffle it’s time for our last challenge of 2012 at Paper Crafting Journey and this challenge will run for 3 weeks until 9th January (giving the DT a well earned rest). We’ve have been sponsored by Rick St Dennis and he very kindly gave each of the DT their choice of image to use. Here is my card…

I picked the wonderful Mrs Frosty which can be found here in Rick’s Etsy shop. I have coloured the image with my ProMarkers.

The patterned papers are from a Kaisercraft Paper Pad that came free with a Magazine. I’ve also used some cream, red and kraft card for matting, a sentiment from a HobbyArts clear stamp set, a CC Designs Phlox flower die to make poinsettia flowers and some old letter stamps which I have stamped onto patterned paper and cut out by hand (that was a little time consuming… let’s hope Santa brings me the alphabet dies I put on my Christmas list!).

Please hop across to PCJ to see what the rest of the DT have created.

Whimsy Challenge Midway Inspiration

Morning everyone, I’m here to remind you that you still have time to enter the current challenge at Whimsy Inspirations Challenge.  The theme this time is:

Anything Christmas Goes

I’ve used another gorgeous digi called Christmas Candle from StampArt Design by Kathryne:

The image is stunning and comes complete with the sentiment, so I really have kept this one CAS.

The image has been printed onto Elegance Ice White 300gsm card from Joanna Sheen, coloured with ProMarkers and simply matted onto some red, green and gold card. Lastly I’ve highlighted the dripping wax with some glossy accents and dotted the holly berries with some Stickles Glitter Glue.

Please hop across to Whimsy Inspirations Challenge to see the rest of the midway inspiration.

Mo’s Ragged Angel

The trouble with trying to post the rest of my Christmas makes is coming up with post titles. So I’m telling it like it is…. this card uses the gorgeous Ragged Angel from Mo Manning’s Digi Shop.

As with nearly all my remaining Christmas cards I’ve kept things simple, the image (coloured with ProMarkers), some matting, a sentiment and a few die cuts. On this card the patterned paper is from a Kaisercraft magazine freebie, the other card is from my stash,  the sentiment is from a HobbyArt Clear stamp set, the die cut stars are from Marianne Designs and the gems are from my stash.

And Another…

Thanks to being poorly I am snuggled up on the sofa which gives me ample time to catch up on some blogging. As I said yesterday I hope to share the remainder of my Christmas makes before the start of the New Year.  So here goes with a card using a little cutie from Digi Stamp Boutique…

The image has been coloured with my ProMarkers and I’ve kept the rest of the card quite simple using up some scraps of patterned card (from Sarah Hurley and an old DCWV Mat Stack). The sentiment is from a HobbyArt Clear Stamp set and has been stamped onto a scrap of pink card die cut with an X-Cut Square Parenthesis die. The button, metallic twine, glitter adhesive strip and flat backed gems are from my stash.

Another Christmas Card

Evening all. Apart from a horrid Sinus infection to get rid of before Christmas I think I am almost done and dusted with everything. All my card cards are done and I’ve just a few Christmas presents still to wrap, but I’m doing them in small bursts as it’s not easy with a MASSIVE bump stuck in front of me. I’m also lucky that we spend alternate years at each of our parents for Christmas so I don’t have shopping or cooking to do for the big day.

Anyway back to the point of my post. I want to try and share as many of the Christmas cards I’ve made this year before the start of the New Year. So here goes with the first…

IMG_6403

This little cutie is a Lili of the Valley stamp I’ve had for several years and has been coloured with my ProMarkers. I’ve used some gorgeous papers from the First Edition 6x6 Christmas Village Paper Pad, some card from my stash and various dies, some new and some old and a sentiment from a clear HobbyArts set.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Thanks for stopping by and if all goes to plan I will be back tomorrow with some more of my Christmas cards.

Christmas at Sarah Hurley Challenge

Evening everyone. Hope you are all having a great weekend. I’ve been snuggled up on the sofa today as I managed to catch the nasty cold that my Little One has had. I had an awful temperature and fever yesterday and over night and unfortunately as I’m pregnant there is not a lot I can take to ease it.

Anyway enough waffle, I’m here to share my card for the current challenge at Sarah Hurley and also to remind you that you have until December 30th to enter.

I have used papers from Sarah’s Tinseltown and Santas Workshop kits to make this card…

Traditional Christmas Card (1)

The sentiment stamp is from a HobbyArt clear stamp set and the ribbon and snowflakes are from my stash.

Christmas at PCJ

 CD Nativity Scene Card Closeup

Morning All. I’ve had a few days of bad luck, our boiler broke again and so did the car, but both are now fixed so hopefully I can get back into the festive spirit.

Speaking of festive spirit it’s time for a new challenge at Paper Crafting Journey and this time the challenge is:

Anything Christmas

I have used a gorgeous image available from Whimsy Stamps, it’s by Crissy’s Digis – Nativity Scene

CD Nativity Scene Card (2)

The image has been coloured with ProMarkers and because the image is so adorable I have kept the rest of the card quite simple. I have used Kraft card from Bazzill and patterned papers from First Editions Village Christmas 6x6 paper pad. Whimsy Stamps Info

Hello everyone. Hope you are all well.

Sorry I have been a bit quiet for a few days and haven’t managed to visit you all. I have been working away at projects and trying to get all my Christmas shopping organised…..and at seven and a half months pregnant and with what looks like a beach ball strapped to my front none of that has been easy. To top it all off our boiler broke yesterday morning so am feeling a little chilly and sorry for myself as I type this.

I’m not the only one having a few problems the lovely Whimsy Stamps have been having some problems with the website here is what the lovely Denise wanted us to share with you all…

“To Our Valued Customers and Friends:

Over the past week some of you may have noticed intermittent problems with our website resulting in loss of carts, log in problems, and security errors. We apologize for any frustration this may have caused.

During our attempts to diagnose and correct the issues, we have discovered some problems with our current hosting provider and their servers. In an effort to serve our customers better, we have made the decision to switch providers and move our shop to new servers.

This change/move will require our site to be shut down for a number of hours this weekend. We do apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. This change will also result in a delay of our regularly scheduled monthly digital release. But as soon as we are back up and running as normal we will release all the fabulous new images...including those from our brand new digital artist Marika Collins!

Our goal is to provide our customers with the best quality of service possible. We thank you for your patience at this time. We will make every effort to have this transition go as smoothly and as quickly as possible.

Thank you for your continued support of Whimsy Stamps and our artists!

Have a great weekend!”

I hope to pop back later with my DT card for Sarah Hurley’s Christmas Challenge.

CASE A DT Member at PCJ

Letter to Santa Close Up (1)

Morning All. At last we have a little bit of sunshine here on the South Coast but it sure is chilly, especially with the Double Glazers here taking out and putting in new windows!

It’s time for a new challenge at Paper Crafting Journey and this time the challenge is to:

CASE One of the DT Members’ Cards

Please choose me…..only kidding!  I have used a gorgeous image, that was kindly given to us by our sponsor Elisabeth Bell, called Letters to Santa.

Letter to Santa Christmas Card (1)

I have coloured the image with my ProMarkers and used some Liquid Pearls and stickles to highlight. The patterned papers were a freebie with a magazine and are by Hot Off the Press. I’ve also used some Papermania Vellum, Bazzill Kraft card and Matte Gold card. All edges have been distressed using Walnut Stain DI and a Tonic Studios/Tim Holtz Paper Distresser and the two patterned and Kraft papers have been edged using a Fiskars Threading Water Border Punch.

Letter to Santa Christmas Card (3)

The corner stamps are from Lili of the Valley and the sentiment is from a HobbyArt clear stamp set, stamped in Onyx Black Brilliance Ink. The ribbon, wooden snowflake, button and metallic thread are all from my stash.

Wrapped Up Warm

Please scroll down to the next post for my Whimsy Inspirations Challenge Midway Inspiration post.

Winter Chloe Christmas Card Closeup

Morning All. Bit chilly here. We have the Double Glazers in replacing all our windows, so every now and again I get a big draught of air to keep me chilly. They have already replaced my craft room window and as Little One is staying at Nanny and Grandads I have retreated to my little cubbyhole to keep warm (and craft!!).

I have been making some Christmas cards again and this little cutie uses the adorable Winter Chloe from Pink Gem Designs. I’ve made quite a few traditional coloured cards lately so with this one I wanted a completely different colour scheme….

Winter Chloe Christmas Card (2)

I have coloured the image with ProMarkers and added some tiny Papermania Glitter Gel Dots to accent the snowflakes on her outfit.  The patterned paper is from the First Edition Stocking Fillers 6x6 pad, the Christmas Tree is a Marriane Designs Die and the sentiment is from a Clear HobbyArt set. All other bits and bobs (card, ribbon, lace, pearls) are from my stash.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:
